European bee-eater (Merops apiaster) is a colourful and striking bird that feeds by catching insects on the wing. It mainly eats bee's, and to remove their sting they bash it against their wooden or rocky perch before eating. They are a summer migrant that will nest colonially in burrows dug into sand banks.
